Everyone's favourite pirate
Pirates of the Caribbean hero, Jack Sparrow, is back in a fifth movie:
Dead Men Tell No Tales.
At first, Johnny Depp just wanted to be in a fun Disney movie that his children could watch.
But Captain Sparrow became Depp's favourite character to play. He says: "When a ten-year old kid tells me he loves Captain Jack Sparrow... That's real magic for me."
Pirate style
Johnny had a lot of ideas for Jack Sparrow's pirate outfit. He is the one who chose to put all the little objects in Jack's dreadlocks. He says each one represents a memory from Jack's adventures. Johnny also wanted Jack to have gold teeth. He went to the dentist and had his teeth covered in gold, even though the movie makers were against it!
A strange hero
Jonnhy wanted Jack Sparrow to be very wird, in a funny way. Jack always looks drunk, he walks like he has spent too much time at sea, he moves his hands bizarrely, he's rude... And, at first, disney almost fired Johnny from the film because they were scared Captain Sparrow looked too strange! But Johnny also made Jack very clever and loyal. In the end, he's like a real hero and the world's coolest pirate.
